Noel...

For this one I just wrapped a box, cut out some letters and glued them on. Then I attached a bow in the corner and voila! A pretty little Christmas box decoration.

We believe...

Today I painted a Santa Claus with "this house believes" on it. It was one of the cutest things I've done yet I think.

O come let us adore Him...

Today I made a painted canvas with "o come let us adore him" on it. I cut the letters, the star and the stable out of white cardstock. It turned out really pretty.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Today I used an old vase and painted a winter scene on it. It was a lit of fun to paint. After I finished painting it, I put some beads in it. I liked the look of it but then decided that maybe it would better serve as a candle holder. I also tried it with blue and white colored glass rocks. I'm still not sold on any particular way because I think it is extremely versatile and could be used so many different ways.

Christmas sparkles

For this decoration I put some red ribbon around a delicious smelling candle and made a blingish buckle for it. It looks especially pretty when it's lit.

Visions of sugarplums dance in their heads

Today I used a very heavy cardboard tube from an industrial box of plastic wrap to make a candy cane stick. I wrapped the tube in a striped bit of christmas wrapping paper. Then I wrapped that in plastic wrap. After adding a string to hang it from and a cute Christmas phrase, I hung it on my door.

Pretty Paper

Today's decoration is a kind of wreath made of paper. Basically it is 20 pieces of scrapbook paper 8"x4". They are folded at one end and then stapled together into a ring. It wasn't as hard as it looks and once again, it was free.

Set the table...

Today, I made a really cute centerpiece with some Christmas balls , some greenery, a large vase. Then I put some candles on either side with some bows and ta da! A beautiful Christmas table centrepiece. :) The hardest part was in arranging the balls in the vase. After about 15 times rearranging them, I finally got them arranged satisfactorily. I think it looks great on my table. Again, this used only things I already had at home so it was free. I like free.

That Time Again

Yep! It's that time again- time to start getting ready for Christmas. After making so many Christmas tree ornaments last year, I found my tree full to the top with beautiful ornaments. Since I don't need any more Christmas tree ornaments, this year I have decided to go a different way with my challenge. While we have plenty of tree ornaments, we have virtually no other Christmas decorations outside of a few candle holders and things like that, so this year my challenge is to make other types of Christmas decorations for our house. There are 42 days until Christmas however some of those days I will be busy with Thanksgiving and family and so I have decided that I will do one decoration a day starting tomorrow and going through November 26th and then start again on December 2nd and make one a day through December 18th. This will give me 32 Christmas decorations. As with last year's challenge, the decorations should each be unique. Also they should make use of something I have at home as this is a recycling/upcycling challenge. The total cost of all the decorations can be NO MORE than $32.

So here is the challenge:

32 UNIQUE Christmas decorations in 32 days costing no more than $32 total and each decorations must use something from home.

The thing to keep in mind here is that I don't want tree ornaments and I don't want things that I will just throw away at the end of the year. I want these decorations to be imaginative, fun and most of all I want them to be things that I will want to reuse again in the future. If you have any ideas of what I should do, toss them my way. If not, well, keep an eye on this page because I will definitely be posting some interesting ideas.
